ABOUT LISA IEP CONSULTING

Lisa IEP Consulting was founded by Lisa Mosko Barros, a bi-lingual award winning advocate for students with disabilities with 15 years of experience. 

Lisa founded Lisa IEP Consulting in order to serve families with direct one on one coaching and to support throughout the IEP process. As a mother who has successfully fought to ensure that her own children with IEPs were given the support they needed to thrive, Lisa draws from her lived experience to help other families do the same. Previously, Lisa held director of advocacy positions at The Oakland REACH and Speak UP - both parent led non-profits dedicated to lifting up marginalized families in public education. She also served as chairperson for LAUSD’s Community Advisory Committee for Special Education where she was re-elected for three consecutive years. Ms. Mosko Barros was awarded the Los Angeles County Commission on Disabilities 33rd Annual Access Awards. Her work has been cited in the Los Angeles Times, Ed Source, the 74 Million, LAist, and La Opinión and she as served as a panelist on Univisión and on Larry Mantle’s AirTalk on KPCC, a NPR member station.

Currently, Lisa also leads her non-profit organization, SpEducational, which is dedicated to empowering and mobilizing families of students with disabilities to effect positive systems change.

Lisa IEP Consulting fue fundada por Lisa Mosko Barros, una defensora bilingüe y galardonada de estudiantes con discapacidades con 15 años de experiencia.

Lisa fundó Lisa IEP Consulting para brindar asesoramiento personalizado a familias y brindarles apoyo durante todo el proceso del IEP. Lisa Mosko Barros is an bi-lingual award winning advocate for students with disabilities with over 13 years of both professional and personal experience. 

Before founding SpEducational, Lisa served as the Chief Advocacy Officer for The Oakland REACH, a non-profit organization dedicated to lifting up Black and Latino students in public schools via family voice. Previously, Lisa was the founding Director of Special Education Advocacy at Speak UP, a parent powered non-profit dedicated to effecting positive change in public schools in Los Angeles Unified. Ms. Mosko Barros served as chairperson for the Los Angeles Unified District’s Community Advisory Committee for Special Education where she was re-elected for three consecutive years.

Ms. Mosko Barros’ advocacy has garnered her the Los Angeles County Commission on Disabilities 33rd Annual Access Awards as well as ongoing media attention. Her work has been cited in the Los Angeles Times, the 74 Million, LAist, and La Opinión and she as spoken as a panelist on Univisión and on Larry Mantle’s AirTalk on KPCC, a NPR member station.
